On September 29, 2024, Governor Newsom issued a State of Emergency Proclamation for the Boyles Fire that has spread through the City of Clearlake in Lake County. The Boyles Fire is threatening structures, homes, and critical infrastructure. The fire has ultimately damaged or destroyed over 30 structures. The high temperatures throughout the day and night, dry conditions, and strong winds increased the intensity and spread of the Boyles Fire, causing imminent threat to life and prompting evacuation orders for thousands of residents. In response to a request from the Governor's Office of Emergency Services, the Federal Emergency Management Agency approved a Fire Management Assistant Grant on September 8, 2024, to assist with the mitigation, management, and control of the Boyles Fire.

On September 11, 2024, Governor Newsom issued a State of Emergency Proclamation for the Airport and Bridges Fires affecting Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside and San Bernardino Counties. The Bridge Fire began burning in Los Angeles County and has since burned into San Bernardino County and burned over 47,000 acres. The Airport Fire began burning in Orange County and has since burned into Riverside County and burned over 22,000 acres. These fires and other active fires throughout California, including the Line Fire in San Bernardino County, for which Governor Newsom proclaimed a state of emergency on September 7, 2024, have been fueled by continued high temperatures throughout the day and night, dry conditions, and strong winds, and have caused imminent threat to life and necessitated the full deployment of local and state resources, including nearly 6,000 boots on the ground, hundreds of engines and water tankers, and the world's largest aerial firefighting force.

On September 7, 2024, Governor Newsom issued a State of Emergency Proclamation for the Line Fire in San Bernardino County, which has since burned over 7,000 acres. The Line Fire has prompted evacuation orders and road closures, and continues to threaten structures, homes, critical infrastructure, endangered species, watersheds, and cultural and heritage resources. The continued high temperatures throughout the day and night, dry conditions, and strong winds have increased the intensity and spread of the Line Fire, causing imminent threat to life, with an Excessive Heat Warning in effect in San Bernardino County. In response to a request from the Office of Emergency Services, the Federal Emergency Management Agency approved a Fire Management Assistance Grant to assist with the mitigation, management, and control of the Line Fire. Under the provisions of Government Code section 8558(b), Governor Newsom finds that conditions of extreme peril to the safety of persons and property exist due to the Line Fire in San Bernardino County.

LIBERTY Dental Plan Establishes a Dedicated Toll-Free Number for the State of Emergency for the acute accelerated land movement in the City of Rancho Palos Verdes, Issued on September 3, 2024

On September 3, 2024, Governor Newsom issued a State of Emergency Proclamation for the acute accelerated land movement that impacted a utility line that resulted in a spot brush fire on the Southern California Edison (SCE) Shoreline Circuit, leading to a determination by SCE that it is no longer safe to operate portions of this circuit. On September 1, 2024, due to the threat to public safety, SCE shut off power to a portion of the Shoreline Circuit indefinitely, affecting 140 residences and 53 businesses in the Portuguese Bend community. On September 2, 2024, SCE shut off the power to another 105 residences in the Seaview Community due to the threat to public safety, with the power to 20 of these residences shut off indefinitely; and the power shutoffs have threatened the disruption of the city sewage system, the failure of which would cause an imminent public health concern and threaten the habitability of residences throughout the affected communities. The Los Angeles County Sheriff has issued evacuation warnings to some City of Rancho Palos Verdes residents impacted by the disruption to basic utility services.
